Recycle for Art Class

Special Request:

  • Scrap pieces of plywood to be cut into 12 x 12 or 6 x 6 pieces for build ceramic pieces on top of
  • Heating trays and tin cupcake pan, so students can draw with melted crayons

The Art Program can always use - 

  • Plastic gallon jugs (milk and water jugs)
  • Egg Cartons
  • cardboard trays used hold 4 cups of coffee from a place like Dunkin Dounuts
  • Styrofoam trays that meat and vegitabled are sold on. 
  • Old file folders
  • Newspapers
  • Plastic liter soda bottles,16 oz. soda bottles, and water bottles
  • Scrap pieces of wood (will be used as the base for the abstract sculpture, totem poles or for other potential building projects)
  • Magazines with beautiful photos – For example, National Geographic, Smithsonian, Life.  (If possible, please consider removing any images that would be considered inappropriate for elementary aged children.)
  •  # 60 Sandpaper – full-size sheet

General:

  • ·        Rubber Stamps
  • ·        Old Blenders for making paper
  • ·        Iron for batik and other various projects
  • ·        Crock pots for heating wax for Batik projects
  • ·        Old Nylons or panty hose – any length (for making abstract sculptures)
  • ·        Roofing paper (for large group murals called a fauves)
  • ·        Flat items with interesting surfaces to create texture rubbings (for example, door mats,                    screening, sand paper, plastic mesh, bumpy fabric, burbur carpet scraps, etc.)
  • ·        Plastic cartoon characters or figurines, plastic animals, dinosaurs
