Birthdays Birthdays are a very special day in your child's life. I honor your child's birthday by having everyone sign a poster for him/her and then having them choose a pencil or pencil sharpener from our prize box. Unfortunately we are not allowed to have students bring in snacks due to the amount of allergies many students have now. If you would like to send in a small item for them to give to each of their friends in the class that is more than welcome (pencils, stickers, etc). You could also send in their favorite book for me to read to the class or you can donate a book especially from them to our classroom library. Homework Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. The students are expected to read for 20 minutes a night and at least 30 minutes over the weekend. They usually have one two-sided math page to complete each night. They also need to practice their math facts three times a week. This is best achieved by doing Reflex math. However, flash cards work well and sometimes Acuity activities can be practiced as well. Recess and lunch go from 10:40-11:30 each day. The students go to recess first, followed by lunch. If your child is going to purchase lunch please send them to school with a small change purse or baggie with their name on it to keep their money safe. This are not necessary IF you pay monthly with a check unless your child wants to purchase a snack during lunch. The children go outside everyday unless there is severe weather. Please prepare your child with the appropriate clothing every day. Keeping an extra sweatshirt or jacket in their locker is also convenient, especially during the colder months. Scholastic Book Orders Book orders will be sent home each month. Ordering is completely optional. These flyers offer different grade level options and a wide variety of choices. If you want to order online, it is quick and easy once you have set up an account. Our class online code is PHYZ2. |
